Fun Day makes wishes come true
at Spicers
Sawston-based national office
products wholesaler Spicers Ltd held a fantastic
Fun Day for staff recently and raised £1,250
for charity. Pictured is Mark Troutman from Make-A-Wish
Foundation (centre) receiving the cheque from
Ian Doherty, Spicers’ Managing Director
and Mandy Shaw from Spicers’ Marketing Team.
“We invited all employees and their families
from around the country to come to our HQ at Sawston
for a free day of entertainment, competitions
and good old-fashioned fun, including bouncy castles,
face painting, riding the rodeo bull and traditional
fairground rides,” explains Ian Doherty.
Teams of employees from Spicers’ HQ and
its distribution centres around the UK entered
the It’s A Knockout competition. A team
from the Birmingham distribution centre were the
exhausted winners, closely followed by a team
from the marketing department dressed as the men
from the ‘118 118‘ advertising campaign.
“We did some fundraising at the Fun Day
from stalls and competitions and managed to raise
over £600 for Make-A-Wish Foundation. Spicers
doubled that to bring the final total to £1250.
Make-A-Wish grants magical wishes to children
and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
The charity was founded 20 years ago and since
then has granted over 4,500 wishes,”
says Ian.
