Spicers Press Release
27th November 2007
Spicers’ wheels spinning to meet ISO14001
Spicers has taken delivery of six new MAN-manufactured
TGA 18.444 environmentally-friendly trucks. The
new vehicles use MAN’s patented EGR ‘Add
Nothing’ engine technology so the trucks
are very economic on fuel consumption without
fuel additives, another initiative to reduce Spicers’
carbon footprint.
“The MAN trucks were carefully selected
as the best fit for Spicers’ policy on transport
and the environment. Spicers has been working
on fleet and route rationalisation and has introduced
a number of procedures to monitor and reduce emissions
output and noise. MAN trucks also give us the
option to convert to dual fuel, and we will be
looking at this very seriously in the next 12
months,” says Head of Transport, Nigel Jakubowski.
“We also recycle our trucks, as far as
possible, at the end of their working lives, and
the new MANs offer a high percentage of recyclable
parts.”
